Two new parks in North West a step closer

THE NSW Government has unveiled final designs for two major new parks at Kellyville and Bella Vista, providing new recreation and green spaces alongside thousands of planned new homes.
Kellyville Centre Park and Bella Vista District Park will transform land near Kellyville Metro Station and the Metro North West Line, with construction expected to begin in 2027 and both parks scheduled to open in 2028.
The projects are the first parks being delivered under the Minns Government’s $520M investment in Transport Oriented Development Accelerated Precincts, designed to provide infrastructure, active transport and open space as housing increases around major transport hubs.
More than 700 people provided feedback on preliminary designs earlier this year.
Kellyville Centre Park will feature a shared pedestrian and cycle path improving connections to the Metro station, along with pickleball and basketball facilities, nature-based play areas, climbing equipment and a BMX track.
Paths for skating and rollerblading, a central lawn, community event spaces, drinking stations and accessible toilets are also planned.
More than half the site will feature plants, shade and native trees, while landscaping and community spaces will recognise local Aboriginal heritage and culture.
Bella Vista District Park will include extensive tree planting, a large community lawn for recreation, picnics and events, and an amphitheatre for small performances.
Family facilities will include forest-themed and water play areas, casual sporting spaces, stepped grass lawns and accessible walking paths. Native planting will provide wildlife habitat, while spaces developed with Traditional Owners and Custodians will reflect Aboriginal culture and encourage learning about Country.
The Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure worked with Landcom, Sydney Metro, The Hills Shire Council, Traditional Custodians and the community on the designs.
Planning Minister Paul Scully said about 4,600 new homes were expected across Kellyville and Bella Vista and it was important growth was supported by community infrastructure.
“We’re not just building more homes – we’re delivering the parks, infrastructure and open space that make neighbourhoods great,” Mr Scully said.
Member for Riverstone Warren Kirby said the parks would become a “shared backyard” where residents could play, exercise and connect with nature.
Rezoning across seven TOD Accelerated Precincts has created capacity for almost 60,000 new homes and more than 126,000 commercial and retail jobs.
