Smokers who exercise quit faster
NEW research from Adelaide University has found that regular exercise can help smokers quit by reducing cravings, lowering cigarette consumption and improving quit rates. A review of 59 studies involving more than 9,000 participants found exercise increased the likelihood of quitting by up to 21%, while even a single workout reduced cravings for up to 30 minutes. Researchers say exercise should complement proven quitting methods such as counselling and medication.
