Local artist Catherine Vicki exhibits at Stanhope Gardens Library
LOCAL multidisciplinary artist Catherine Vicki is currently showcasing a new collection of contemporary abstract works and textiles at Dennis Johnson Library, Stanhope Gardens.
The exhibition can be viewed by the public and runs for the next two weeks, offering a vibrant and thought-provoking experience for visitors of all ages.
Known for her colourful abstract paintings and textile art, Catherine’s work blends painting, photography, and textiles, drawing on personal stories, spiritual themes, and a strong connection to her family roots. This latest body of work continues her exploration of colour, texture, and storytelling—inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and connect.
Catherine’s fine art photography and paintings have been featured in over 30 exhibitions, including showcases in Japan and San Francisco.
She was named a finalist in the Blacktown Art Prize four times— 2017, 2018, 2016, and 2021. She was a recipient of the Blacktown City Creative Arts Fund in 2022, and in 2024 was invited to be featured in ‘The Banner Project’ which exhibited the portraits of 21 local women of significance on civic flags across Blacktown CBD.
Her artworks are held in prominent public collections, including the William Wilkins Art Collection and the Blacktown City Art Collection, underscoring her growing influence within the Australian art landscape.
“It’s wonderful to be exhibiting in a space that’s so accessible to the local community,” says Catherine. “These pieces come from a deeply personal place, and I hope they resonate with people in their own way.”
The exhibition can be viewed at the Dennis Johnson Library, Stanhope Gardens located at the Blacktown Leisure Centre.
