Stronger rules to sell parts to repairers
THE Insurance Council of Australia is calling for stronger Right to Repair laws requiring vehicle manufacturers to sell genuine parts to independent repairers on fair terms. The ICA says mechanics can have the technical information needed to repair vehicles but still be prevented from completing work because manufacturers refuse to supply parts. CEO Andrew Hall said restricted access increased repair costs and delays and could result in otherwise repairable vehicles being written off, ultimately contributing to higher insurance premiums for Australian motorists.
